Cherished Cinema

Hello all.

This site will start off with an exploration through ten or so horror films that I elected to watch/re-watch in order to attempt to gain an appreciation for the horror genre. Even as a kid, I was never much into horror and as I have gotten more and more into film I have found that I have treated the genre unfairly. The central purpose of this project is to change my perspective on horror films as to be able to better understand/appreciate them.

I initially jotted down three different ideas for projects to start this site off with. It came down to the fact that Halloween is not far off and the project fit in with the films I have been watching lately. The list of films to watch was formulated one late night when I could not sleep, and I chose particular films for various reasons. I chose some because of their recent importance (will be explained later) and some because I own them and have yet to watch them. If you feel as if a big film was left off (that I have not already seen) please let me know through the comments or email.

As stated before, this project will consist of ten posts (with one additional “Leftover” post) and should extend or week or so beyond Halloween. I hope you enjoy reading as I hope to enjoy watching these films. Thank you for reading.
